On April 26, five of PSCA’s most dedicated and hardworking volunteers saw their numerous efforts rewarded with a ticket to Game 7 of the Flyers-Sabres series. The mayor’s office generously provided the tickets as a way for PSCA to recognize citizens who volunteered their time and energy to serving their community. (That and the mayor’s office recognized that there happen to be a lot of Flyers fans in Passyunk Square.) Below are a couple of pictures from the event attended by John Digiulio, Ben Cardell, Cassie Knox, Thomas McKernan, and Rob Flint (pictured below from L to R, appropriately dressed for the occasion).

Cassie has been especially helpful in helping to publicize our happy hours and fundraising events as well as taking the lead in organizing those events. Rob leads our Town Watch and can be found every second Saturday at 11am at 11th and Wharton waiting to lead another group of neighbors on a lookout for trouble spots in the neighborhood. Ben has taken the lead on organizing a number of events including heading up the publicity for our 7th Annual Plant Sale (more about that below). John has been the chair of the Passyunk Square Zoning Committee for several years now and is working hard to ensure that the neighborhood is heard in all developments that seek use or building permits outside of what is legally zoned. And Thomas has been one of our most dedicated tree planters, tree tenders and beautification volunteers (he’s also the man to talk to about getting a recycling bin).

Special thanks again to those five and to everyone who volunteers their time and effort to making Passyunk Square a great place to live. Please know that all of your hard work does not go unrecognized and that if opportunities like this present themselves again, we will be sure to pass them along. Also, we would like to publicly thank the mayor’s office for using tickets provided to them by the teams to recognize volunteers and those who serve the community. (And if the Flyers would like to thank PSCA for providing the good luck charm for their Game 7 victory, we’ll be more than happy to accept tickets to the next series!)
