On Monday, August 15, Transition Philadelphia will be hosting a forum on Building Community. It will take place at the South Philadelphia Older Adult Center (1430 East Passyunk Ave) at 7pm. Come early (6:30pm) to enjoy a potluck.

Each of us is part of many communities, some more important than others, and all in the process of change. Join Transition Philadelphia as representatives of different communities kick off a conversation about building stronger communities as part of creating a resilient society. Strong communities will be necessary to deal with the crises of peak oil, economic instability and climate change while we make the transition to a culture beyond fossil fuels. Passyunk Square Civic Association board member and Communication Committee Chair Dan Pohlig will be on the panel representing the South Philadelphia Food Co-op and will talk about how the co-op, through its commitment to providing access to locally and sustainably produced food will be a necessary part of the transition to a post-peak-oil world.

Transition Philadelphia is working to build community resilience in response to climate change, peak oil, and economic instability. They hold monthly workshops to strengthen community ties and to help us become less dependent on fossil fuels.
