Beautification and Trees26 Mar 2013 08:38 am

Forms need to be passed over to PHS for processing soon, so if you’d like a street tree planted in our fall planting event, download the pdf found at www.passyunksquare.org/beautification under the Tree Planting section and send us your form! Participating in our planting events is a fun way to meet your neighbors and get some more hands on information about how to best care for your tree.  We accept tree forms on a rolling basis, but we’ll need them by the 29th to get you a chance for a tree in the Fall of 2013. Alternatively, you can apply anytime to get a street tree planted by the city.

We’re always looking for help identifying places that could use some new trees, or spots with trees that need to be replaced. If you’re interested in getting more trees on your block, or helping us canvass for spots that need new or replaced trees, get in touch at beautification@passyunk.org!

Cleanup and Trash & Recycling19 Mar 2013 04:44 pm

CleanupCalling all volunteers! Come out and participate in the 6th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup on Saturday April 13 from 9-2.

PSCA plans to clean the 9th street corridor from Reed to Ellsworth, and the surrounding areas off of 9th street (Wharton, Reed, and Federal, etc.)  Our objective is to sweep and remove litter on the sidewalks and curbs, cleanup the open lot on Wharton Street as well as clean out gutters in the area.  We will be distributing recycling bins and signing people up for recycle rewards. We will also hand out circular free stickers to help keep flyers off our streets.

To sign up to volunteer with the PSCA, use this direct link to our registered project http://www.philadelphiastreets.com/Project_Register.aspx?code=20Q8D15N52

Come out and show your support for our wonderful neighborhood.

PSCA_POSTCARDThe Passyunk Square Civic Association’s Education Committee will be meeting on Monday April 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Columbus Square Recreation Center at 12th and Wharton.

There are many new people who are looking to get involved, so this will be a great opportunity for everyone to get together! Christine Knapp will report on her meeting with Kirkbride and we will be discussing efforts with them as well.

If you have any particular ideas, topics, projects, etc that you’d like to discuss, please email education@passyunk.org to have it added to the agenda.
