The City of Philadelphia’s 9th Annual Philly Spring Clean Up is scheduled for Saturday, April 9, 2016, between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm. The City will help neighbors clean up their blocks by providing a limited number of supplies, such as trash bags and gloves. It will also help by collecting trash and recyclables from your block and in assisting you in planning your clean up.

If you are interested in joining with your neighbors to clean up your block, you must register by either going on line at phillyspringcleanup@phila.gov or downloading an application and mailing it to:
Calrton Williams, Deputy Commissioner, City of Philadelphia – Streets Department, 730 Municipal Services Building, 1401 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Philadelphia, PA 19102.

Applications are due no later than April 1, 2016.

If you need help in obtaining an application or supplies, we at Passyunk Square Civic Association can help you. We can also inform the neighborhood through our social media network and perhaps recruit additional volunteers to assist you in cleaning your block. Just contact us at trash@passyunk.org.

Whether you need our help or not, please let us know if your block intends to participate in this year’s Philly Spring Cleanup. As a result of this Cleanup we should have a much cleaner neighborhood and city.

The next South Philly Language Exchange will be on Thursday, March 24, at Taquitos de Puebla (1149 South 9th St.). All South Philly Language Exchanges begin at 7:00 pm!

 Do you want to learn some Spanish? Would you like to meet Spanish-speaking neighbors and help them to learn English, while supporting a local Mexican restaurant and building community in Passyunk Square? The South Philly Language Exchange is a monthly event that brings together English and Spanish speakers over dinner at local restaurants. This event is open to everyone and is informal and fun. If you come, you can order food or not, and you will be made to feel welcome!

Our monthly zoning meeting is on Tuesday, March 8from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Saint Maron’s Maronite Church, 1013 Ellsworth St.

There will be 5 cases:

  • 1224 S. Sheridan Street: 3rd floor edition and roof deck to existing home
  • 1150 S. 12th Street: Erection of roof deck and legalization of parking spaces
  • 1152 S. 12th Street: Application for take-out restaurant on 1st floor and basement of existing home
  • 813 Federal Street: Rear addition to existing home
  • 1100 Washington (La Fusion) Avenue: Liquor license application
