Beyond the garden, we’re also planning a series tree care events on the first Wednesday of the month from 6:30 pm – 8:30 pm at spots around the neighborhood. We’ll be meeting at the garden and discussing pruning and tree care basic for those new to our pruning group, then heading out. On Friday, May 20, 85 neighbors, teachers, and parents gathered at Industrious Office to celebrate A NIGHT OUT FOR KIRKBRIDE! The event raised over $8,000 for the Friends of Kirkbride to support Kirkbride Elementary School at 7th St. and Dickinson St. The night included a packed silent auction with donations from over 50 local businesses, a rousing live auction, raffle baskets made by each grade, and a school-themed photobooth.

Guests enjoyed the best South Philly food has to offer with Cosmi’s, Tamalex, Tiffin;  dessert generously donated by Taffets Bakery and Termini Brothers Bakery; and beer from Lagunitas Brewing Company.

Event sponsors were Generation 3 Electric, Grace Kennedy Law, Southwark on Reed, and Project P.L.A.Y. School.

Thank you to the entire community for a successful inaugural fundraiser for Friends of Kirkbride!
