Jackson School is hosting a Family friendly happy hour on Wednesday, October 19, at the PHS Pop-up Garden at 15th and South St. from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. $10 for adult admission and you’ll enjoy happy hour prices on food and drink all night.  Will also have a 50-50 drawing and door prizes.

Congratulations to Jackson School fifth grade science teacher, Ms. Jayda Pugliese. She is a top 10 finalist for the best in education award. This is a national honor awarded two outstanding educators and comes with a $10,000 prize for the school and a $10,000 prize for the teacher. If this sounds familiar to you, no doubt it’s because this is the very same a word that our own principal Lisa Kaplan one in 2015. We are so proud of Ms. Pugliese.

Jackson teachers are holding a WALK-IN on Thursday, October 6 from 8:00 am- 8:20 am. In a Walk-In, parents, educators and students gather outside their school 30-45 minutes before the school day begins. Several speakers address local issues and express a vision for change. When it is time for the school day to begin, the educators, students and parents walk into the school together. In districts like Philadelphia, where we are struggling with inadequate resources, a Walk-In is an opportunity to engage parents, students and community leaders to speak with one voice to tell lawmakers to fund schools fully, fairly and adequately.
