Music, fun, and food brought to you by Gold Star Park and the South Philly Food Co-op! Like some Booker T? Maybe a little Dick Dale? You’ll dig this!  This month East Coastamite will be playing the final 2012 Music in the Park series.  East Coastamite is a good-time, get-down, instrumental four-piece preaching the word of 60s-inspired, soul, surf, and organ jazz. Offering up a funky miscellany of originals and rarified arrangements of vintage treasures, East Coastamite will probably make you dance. More about the band at www.eastcoastamite.net

As a grand finale to the summer music in the park series, the South Philly Food Co-op is hosting a potluck dinner.  Bring your favorite dish made with at least one local ingredient to share and don’t forget to BYOB(lanket).  And since there’s always room for dessert, the first 40 people who stop by our table will get a free Little Baby’s ice cream sandwich. All music in the park events are free and open to the public.  Bring your own chair or blanket.  Each event is subject to change and/or cancellation due to severe weather.

Performing in Gold Star Park this month will be Trinidelphia!  Born out of street jams in Rittenhouse Square in 2005, Trinidelphia came to life.  Since then the group has expanded to become Philly’s preeminent Caribbean music ensemble.  The name itself summarizes the mission of the band: to bring a unique Philadelphia twist to the steel drum music of Trinidad.  Visit www.trinidelphia.com

Thursday, June 14 7pm – the first of 3 events this summer!

Music in the Park is BACK!  Performing in Gold Star Park will be Fisher & Maher (www.fishermaher.com). This duet has been providing entertainment throughout the Philadelphia area for over 30 years with their unique adaptation of traditional Irish music.  Although the music has its Irish roots, don’t let the word traditional fool you; their performance is anything but.  With an emphasis on audience participation, Danny Fisher and Andy Maher gear their presentation toward getting the crowd up singing and stomping their feet!

The South Philly Food Co-op will also be on hand conducting a seedling workshop activity, distributing information about the Co-op, answering questions, handing out membership applications, and accepting equity payments and new member-owners.
