Thank you for all you’ve done to make 2011 a successful year! This year we continued to grow and help our community become an even better place to live.  We could not have done it without those of you who volunteered to make our many projects and events a success.  In order for us to have an even stronger 2012, please consider making a fully tax-deductible donation to the Passyunk Square Civic Association, a volunteer-led non-profit, to help us maintain this momentum:

Weekly sidewalk litter pick-up program expanded and trash cans added!

We collaborated with Passyunk Avenue Revitalization Corporation (‘PARC’) to expand the litter pick-up program so that some of the heavier traffic areas are now being cleaned more than once a week.  We also worked with PARC to bring corner trash cans to some of the most littered corners which has helped reduce the amount of litter between cleanings.  As a reminder this street cleaning program costs over $10,000 per year so every dollar of your support is appreciated.

Tree plantings and a new garden

The tree plantings were once again a very popular event in the neighborhood as we planted over 80 trees in the past year with every one of these trees planted by a volunteer.   We have also helped organize the new garden across from Pat’s Steaks and greatly appreciated the large outpouring of support.  This garden is certain to be a great community meeting point in the coming years.

Helping to Improve education at the Jackson School

More community projects for the future

As always we continue to look to the future and are excited about some of our newer efforts to reduce the number of boarded up properties in the neighborhood and ramp up our block liaison program to get even more of you involved in making Passyunk Square the best place to live in Philadelphia. We also want to offer more support to other neighborhood schools including Kirkbride at 7th and Dickinson and the charter and parochial schools in the neighborhood so that families will have the option of STAYING in the neighborhood when it comes time for their kids to go to school.

Your donations keep us running for you!

The PSCA is a volunteer-led and self-funded non-profit – we run on your donations of money and time!  Every dollar raised will directly support weekly litter pick-up, tree planting and maintenance, education reform, neighborhood beautification and more!  Please consider giving a $35 donation to the Passyunk Square Civic Association.  Click this link to make a contribution.  Your donations are greatly appreciated!  And special thanks to those that gave last year (a list of donors and a few more of our accomplishments is below)!
