On this day of rememberance, be nice to your neighbors! Remember all you have to be thankful for. Sweep your stoop – be thankful that you have a place to live. Tip generously at your local eatery. Pick up trash in the neighborhood when you see it. Smile at your neighbors. Say hi. Tragedies like 9/11 remind us that our world is bigger than just ourselves and our immediate families. We are communities of people.

-Turn your lights on every night, at the front and back of your house. It makes your home more inviting to guests and neighbors, and may deter crime. You can use CFL bulbs to reduce your electric bill and also lessen your environmental impact. However, be aware that most home burglaries occur in the daytime, when homeowners are usually away from their homes.
