Meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month except in July and August. Hear updates about projects in the neighborhood and how to get involved with communications, beautification, clean streets, education and other initiatives. Parks on Tap
June 8 – Gold Star Park, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.
June 14 – 18 – Columbus Square Park, Hours vary by day, PSCA Happy Hour 5 p.m. – 7p.m. on June 14
Parks on Tap is Philadelphia’s traveling beer garden that gives back! It is a partnership with Philadelphia Parks and Recreation, Fairmount Park Conservancy and Avram Hornik of FCM Hospitality that brings a beer garden to a 20 different parks for 20 weeks. Parks on Tap is an initiative with the city that kicked off in 2016, to engage the Philadelphia community and give back to the neighborhood parks. There is fresh food, beer on tap, wine, snacks and non-alcoholic beverages and family friendly activities in a festive outdoor environment featuring comfortable chairs and hammocks and clean restrooms.
Flea Market at Capitolo Park

The Capitolo Flea Market is a weekend flea market and live band showcase that happens two times a year and is a fundraiser for Capitolo Park, put on by friends of the park.

We’re ready to start the season at Passyunk Gardens! Every Sunday from 4-6pm come enjoy the garden, check out what we are growing and get gardening questions answered. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors and other gardeners and enjoy a pocket of green space in the neighborhood. Occasionally we do some cleanup and weeding tasks, and neighbors are welcome to clip herbs and greens and whatever is abundant at the moment. We also often have extra starter plant for sale to benefit the work at the garden.

Every year Vare-Washington students present and defend a 15-page paper around the topic, “what problem will I solve?” The students practice and prepare a presentation and defend their work before a distinguished panel of community stakeholders. Bare-Washington is looking for volunteers who can commit a half hour to an hour to watch presentations and ask students questions about their work. You will help deepen the thinking of our students and your presence on the panel means the world to our students. If you are able to commit to a block of time June 5 -14, please let us know by filling out this Doodle poll.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art is returning to South Philadelphia this summer. There are thirteen reproductions of works from the museum’s permanent collection in outdoor sites throughout South Philadelphia as selected by us and our friends at East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association and the East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District.
